Donut Dates

These sour cola flavoured dates by zombie taste absolutely amazing! I was a little skeptical about the idea of cola flavoured dates and even more skeptical when I open the bag to see they were simply dates covered with a sprinkles. But immediately the smell of cola hits and smells like a bag of sweets..The taste is delicious with the immediate taste of cola giving way to a very mild taste of the dates after a few chews. It's a little jarring at first as it's not how you expect dates to taste and the cola flavour reminded me of chewy sweets but the texture of the dates is so very different. I was shocked by how well this combo worked and the only disappointment is that there are not enough dates in the bag (12 dates in the bag I tried)! The sprinkles are a sour coating and they do a really good job of making the dates taste and feel like sweets. The cola flavouring is spot on in my opinion.The dates are already pitted which is a huge bonus and having unpitted dates would definitely take away from the experience in my opinion. The dates looked and tasted good and I was also impressed by all the additional mentions of these being vegan, halal, gluten free, low calorie and containing no added sugar. These are definitely a snack treat I would feel comfortable with my kids having.However, things do fall apart a little when you consider the price. At £14.99 (at time of review) for a box of 10, it is £1.50 for a small bag of dates. There's no doubt these are a premium quality snack but the price is the hardest bit to swallow. I would love to see Zombie succeed in the snack world as we've enjoyed all their snacks we have tried but they are sadly a treat when I wish they could be a staple. Hopefully their success leads to lower prices!

Giving 4 stars as these are the flavour they say, are pitted, are nicely preserved fruit. I just REALLY don't like these!Thought I'd try these as me and my boys have loved some previous Zombie-branded sweets recently, and the idea of dates felt a good one, a healthier snack.This is 10 sealed bags of dates, flavoured with doughnut. The smell is distinct upon opening, the taste also is of doughnuts. For me though, these are awful, I had to eat one date with several bites, it just isn't a flavour/taste/texture I like.My boys are dubious but going to give these a go, but I may be sharing these with friends. We like the branding and packaging, snack-sized bags are a great idea.

I'm trying to snack more mindfully, so am a big fan of the Zombie brand having tried a few of their various lines now. This one sounds like it shouldn't work. Taste buds disagree. They've pulled off quite something. The bag looks like any 'bad for you' snack. Inside are literal pitted dates, but with a very thin coating of flavouring which makes them taste like the little sweet cola bottle you used to get in a 10p mix back in the day (for the cola varient). There is also the donut varient - which is even more bonkers - the thin coating genuinely is a taste of donut masking an actual date. It works surprisingly well. I don't think you can say they are outright health food, there are som additives - but they are way, way better for you than most snacking choices. Because of the branding I suspect these are aimed at parents buying for Children. This parent ain't passing them on - I'm having them!

A review from the wife... This is a multi pack box of dates; it has ten smaller packs within the box. The dates are a small size and are covered in doughnut flavoured sweeteners. They taste exactly like doughnuts and are a nice snack. It does however beg the question though - with dates being super sweet anyway, why does it need additional sweeteners! Each bag comes in at 105 calories. I think they are quite a heavy snack so I probably wouldn't eat the entire bag at once. So overall, they are a nice tasting snack but the sweeteners feel unnecessary for dates. They work out at £1.50 per bag which is about average.

At time of review this 10 pack of Sour Cola Dates 45g sold for £14.99. Meaning each pack costs £1.50.These are quite remarkable. The dates taste like the fizzy cola bottles with the date flavour coming through too providing the sweetness. The coating isn't high density, probably because it doesn't have sugar in it like many fizzy sweets do. They are incredibly morish, and it is very easy to eat a bag without realising!The pack comes in a display box as you'd find in a retailer. I just stored the individual pouches in a cupboard at home instead of using the box. The zombie packaging just seems to be a halloween gimick, as I don't really understand why they'd be zombies. They're cola flavoured dates...Anyway - amazing product, I really like them.

These flavoured dates from Zombie are a great way to get some treats that taste sweet without actually going to sweets.The flavouring is quite interesting, it’s essentially sugar like (without actually being sugar) dusting \ covering over the dates themselves, rather than some kind of deep fill or infusion like take. The benefit of this though is the bags themselves smell exceptional; pretty much like a bakery.The only real downside if you can call it that is the fact they still taste like dates, as silly as that might sound to say! In other words if you fundamentally don’t like dates then this will likely not convert you but otherwise comes highly recommended.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from these as I’d never come across dates flavoured to taste like a sweet before, so I was quite intrigued to try them. They arrived neatly packaged, with each of the 10 packets being an individual 45g serving, which makes them handy for popping in a bag or taking out and about.As soon as you open the packet, you get a really noticeable smell of cola, which I wasn’t expecting from dates. The sour flavour has a bit of a kick, but thankfully not so much that you end up screwing your face up, and you can definitely taste the cola flavour on each one. The dates themselves have a slightly chewy texture, which works quite well with the sour coating.I have to admit, the idea of making dates taste like a healthier alternative to a sweet sounded a bit strange to me at first, but it actually works surprisingly well. They are also high in fibre, gluten free, vegan and have no added sugar.One thing I did notice, though, is that although there’s no additional sugar added, each 45g packet still contains 24g of naturally occurring sugar, which does seem quite a lot for a single serving, so it’s something worth being aware of if you’re watching your sugar intake.Overall, I think these are a nice alternative to traditional sweets and a different way of enjoying dates. They have a good best before date of November 2027 and are also a convenient way to add a little extra fibre to your diet while still having something that feels like a sweet treat with each serving only being 106 calories per bag.

We've had products from this company before and always enjoyed them. The colourful packaging means they are great fun but more importantly they have a great product as well.These are unusual but still delicious. Pitted dates flavoured with cola sounds unusual but it does work and the sour coating is really nice.They are guilt free as well. There's no added sugar, they are high fibre and can form one of your five day whilst being a bit of fun at the same time.Importantly, they are vegan friendly, gluten-free and contain no nuts.

These snacks are really nice and do a surprisingly good job of replacing less healthy sweets. They taste just like sour cola bottles, but instead of eating sweets, you’re actually eating dates. The flavour is really enjoyable and gives you that sweet and sour hit without reaching for a traditional bag of sweets.I also really like the fact that the dates are already pitted. Having the stones removed makes them perfect for a quick, convenient snack, as there’s no messy stone to deal with while eating them.My only real criticism is the price. At £1.50 for a 45g bag, they feel a little overpriced for what you get. If the bags were slightly bigger or the price was a bit lower, I would definitely recommend them without hesitation.Other than the value for money, I think these are really excellent. They’re tasty, convenient and a much nicer alternative when you’re craving something sweet.

First impressions of these were great, the packaging is eye catching so it instantly got my kids attention.I was surprised how big the individual packets were, but then when you open them they are only half full as pictured. As soon as you open the packet you’re hit with the smell of donuts so my kids were really keen to try them. We all thought they tasted nice, but my eldest wasn’t overly keen to have them in her lunch box as planned so I don’t think she was fully sold.Overall I think they are good quality and I like that they make fruit more exciting for kids. I do think the sugar content is quite high though, which I assume is just from the dates as it says no added sugar. Price wise I think they offer fair value for money considering the brand and that it’s a bulk pack.

I have been looking for treats to put into the goodie bags I make up for our Trick or Treat visitors every Halloween. I wanted something healthier that still fitted the spooky theme. These Sour Cola Dates from the Zombie Store are ideal. You get 10 x 45g of the naturally flavoured and pitted dates and they have no added sugar and are high in fibre. Each 45g bag has 106 calories in it plus 1g or protein and a whopping 3,5g of fibre so these are not just pretty sweets. Dates taste nice and sweet and with the addition of being rolled in sour cola flavour it gives them a real zing which will go down well with the Trick or Treaters. My husband is objecting as he thinks they should go in his lunchboxes as the individual packets are ideal and they count as 1 of your 5 a day. I am holding onto them apart from the packet we tried as they fit my Halloween theme so well. I like the carbon neutral goals of the Zombie Store and this added to no artificial colours or preservatives really wins me over to these dates as a snack time staple in addition to the goodie bags so I shall have to order some more. I could include them in my healthy eating plan without any concerns. A good find.

Wow! The manufacturers here have managed to do something amazing - they’ve made dates taste good! Honestly, I can’t believe how good these are. First of all, the moment you open the packet your hit by that sour cola bottle smell. Then the taste - fantastic! They basically dates that have been pitted, and then they are rolled or drenched in sour cola sugar. They’re just amazing.I was worried that the addition of all the sugar was going to push the nutritional values through the roof, but reading the nutritional content on the back it seems that everything is within perfectly acceptable limits.Now I was fortunate enough to receive these as part of the Amazon vine program. They would normally cost £15 for 10 smallish 45g bags, so one bag equates to £1.50. I think that is perfectly acceptable. hopefully, these will drop in price in the future, maybe there will be a voucher or coupon? They may go on a promotion or may come with a subscribe and save discount, but I would definitely re-purchase these and they are already on my wish list. They are that good!

We did have a debate about whether it is acceptable to add flavouring to dates, and concluded that it is, since some people won't eat them 'neat', and these snack bags are very child friend in both branding and flavour.And if you are going to flavour the dates, at least make sure that flavour is good. And this one is VERY good. 100% spot-on doughnut flavour. It makes them very moreish and the small 45g pack doesn't last very long. They have both the cooked dough and the sugar flavour and they are very very nice.The flavouring is sugar-free, and the overall nutritionals for these show less sugar than my usual brand of plain dates, which is impressive.There are 10 bags in the box, and they are ideal for lunchboxes and for snacking in the car.Overall: against all my expectations, these are delicious. Five stars.

Absolutely love these. I already like dates, but the doughnut flavour makes them feel much more like a proper treat than a healthy snack.They’re sweet, soft and really satisfying, and the flavour is much better than I expected. The little individual bags are handy too, especially if you want to chuck one in your bag without taking the whole pack.They’re high in fibre, have no added sugar and still manage to taste like something you probably shouldn’t be eating.Really, really nice. I could easily get through far too many of these.

I ordered these Zombie dates as we often have dates and I wanted something to take with me for lunch as a treat.I would say these are great treats for those that want something naughty without being naughty. The dates themselves are moist and the coating really feels like they are sugar coated and I don't detect any of the bitter aftertaste you can sometimes get with artificial sweetened food.The donut flavour comes through mostly in the nose - when you open the packety you can really smell donuts.The 45g bags are quite modest but enough to enjoy for my lunch - not too much nor too little. That's if I can keep my little lad away from them. This 10 bag box will last me two weeks if I have one a day and can resist at weekends.In summary they have done a great job of creating a different but high fibre treat and I can recommend. It's difficult to comment on value as prices can fluctuate.

I'm not really a massive consumer of sweets, and being a vegetarian who's also coeliac can be quite limiting in terms of dietary needs.I've always been pleasantly surprised by the Zombie products, as they always have a good amount of real fruit content and don't fill the products with unnecessary additives or gelatine. These snacks have no artificial colours or preservatives; the dates are gluten-free, nut-free, allergen-free, vegan, plant-based, halal, kosher, and vegetarian.Ingredient-wise, they're just great. 94% dates. It just goes to show that sweets don't need to be full of the junk ingredients that many have.The sour isn't really 'that' sour and is still really good, and brings an extra zing to the sweetness of the dates. First of all, you get the sourness; then, as the coating wears off, you're left with the sweet caramel-flavoured dates. I find them very Moorish. The fact that these healthy sweets can count as 1 of your 5-a-day too is mind-blowing.

I like that these have a crunchy dusting made from sweetener instead of sugar, so it mimics the texture of a sugar donut. The flavouring is spot on, it's got a slightly baked, maybe slightly cinnamon taste, while still having the toffee-like flavour of dates. They're easy to snack on and each individual bag is a great portion size. I'd definitely purchase these again!
